I’m going all-in on this version of Team USA. After watching the Copa America debacle earlier this summer, the new coaching staff will be eager to make a statement in Paris. Losing 3-0 to host France wasn’t a good start to the tournament, but this team showed how good it can be against lesser foes with a 4-1 thumping of New Zealand.

Team USA got off to a red-hot start against New Zealand, scoring 3 times in the opening 30 minutes of the match. That’s something the senior team has lacked in recent years, so it was a good sign for the Americans. Look for them to try to replicate that success. The US attack hit its stride against New Zealand, and I think there’s a chance that continues. Team USA scored 4 goals against New Zealand, and beat Guinea 2-1 head-to-head. Team USA should have plenty of great opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net.

Even with 2 of the 3 allowed players over 23 on the roster playing in defense, this team still has a knack for making at least 1 silly mistake a game. I expect that trend to continue, which is why I think Guinea will score exactly 1 goal in this match.
