VfB Stuttgart v Borussia Dortmund – Friday 20th February

7 Stats that say Stuttgart will have a hard time at home.

Die Roten rotten home record looks set to continue.

As a football writer it is very rare that I get to say that the home side are at an utter disadvantage. Stuttgart have an abysmal home record with only 5 points from 10 games but their away record is staggeringly different. They sit 5th on the away table, having taken 1.18 points per game on average. Their away form is only surpassed only by the likes of Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich. But because this is a home tie for Hubb Stevens’ side, there can only be one winner. Last year’s runners up, Borussia Dortmund, have achieved two consecutive wins for the first time since 13th of September 2014. They look excellent value to make it 10 points from 5 games since the Christmas break and heap more home misery on 18th placed Stuttgart. Here are 7 reasons why VfB are going to find coming away with anything, very difficult.

1)      Stuttgart have not won since December 16th and have only taken 2 points from their last 5 games. Dortmund are (odds) to take all 3 points.

2)      Die Roten sit bottom of the table and have conceded 37 league goals. Jurgen Klopp’s side have scored 7 goals in their last two league matches. Der BVB are 11/2 to score over 3.5 goals.

3)      Hubb Stevens’ side have conceded 6 goals in the last 15 minutes of their games. Dortmund are (odds) to score the last goal between 75 minutes and full time.

4)      Pierre Aubameyang has a strike ratio of 1:2 in all competitions. He is rated at (odds) to net first.

5)      Marco Reus has an impressive tally of 5 goals in 11 league appearances this season. He is (odds) to be an anytime goal scorer.

6)      Dortmund have netted 14 times in the second half of games, over half of their total league goal tally. Stuttgart’s second half goal tally is over twice what it is for the first half with 15 goals netted in the last 45 minutes. The second half is is 21/20 to be the highest scoring half.

7)      Die Schwarzgelben have netted just under half of their first half goals in the opening 15 minutes of their games. They are (odds) to be leading after 15 minutes.
